AVALON SURVEYORS

Avalon is a multi-disciplinary property consultancy, delivering comprehensive professional advice on all building related matters to Clients and industry colleagues.

Avalon began in 2000 as Robert K Muir Ltd, a surveying practice located in Parndon Mill, Harlow. As the sole Director, Robert Muir had worked in the construction industry since the age of 18 when he began working with his father and continued to become highly experienced in the delivery of construction projects for private, housing association and local authority Clients, qualifying as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building.

Robert became an RICS member and chartered building surveyor in January 2003 and the company a chartered building surveying practice, now being regulated by RICS. By this time the company had grown to a team of four, including Robert’s son Benjamin, who began working as an Assistant Building Surveyor in 2004.

Following the devastating South East Asian tsunami, Robert and Benjamin together formed the UK registered charity BuildAid. The charity specialises in building schools, orphanages and medical facilities in the areas that make the most impact. More about the charity here.

Benjamin completed his Building Surveying BSc in 2011 and was appointed as Director of the company in 2014. The company has continued to go from strength to strength, growing not only in activity but also complexity of engagement, and as a result of this growth have now opened a second office in the City of Chelmsford.

The company remains an independent family-run practice, which prides itself on offering a highly personal Client relationship, whilst also being capable of delivering larger-than-most levels of service delivery. Our coverage extends nationally when specific complexities or other considerations demand, but is otherwise focussed in London and the South and East of England.
