This policy sets out how Avalon Surveyors Ltd makes sure that the advice and services we provide are accurate, reliable and delivered to the standards that our clients and RICS expect.
Scope
The policy applies to every instruction we accept, from first enquiry to final report or certificate, and to everyone who works for or on behalf of the practice, including any subconsultants we appoint.
Our commitments
- Understand each client’s needs and objectives before we accept an instruction.
- Accept only work that we have the knowledge, skills and resources to carry out competently.
- Confirm the scope, limitations, timescale and fee of each instruction in writing.
- Follow RICS professional standards and guidance, and the legislation and technical standards that apply to each service.
- Communicate clearly, keep clients informed of progress, and tell them promptly if anything needs to change.
- Check advice and reports before they are issued.
- Learn from client feedback, complaints and completed instructions, and improve how we work.
How we put this into practice
Our quality arrangements are proportionate to the size of the practice. In practice this means that:
- each instruction is allocated to a surveyor with the relevant experience, and work is supervised where needed;
- reports and key advice are reviewed before issue;
- we check the competence of any subconsultant we appoint;
- we keep proper records of each instruction, so that our advice can be understood and checked later; and
- our chartered surveyors keep their knowledge up to date through continuing professional development, as RICS requires.
Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for this policy and for the quality of the practice’s work. Everyone who works on an instruction is responsible for following it.
Feedback and complaints
We welcome feedback at any time. If something has gone wrong, our Complaints Handling Procedure explains how to raise it, and we use what we learn from complaints to improve our service.
Monitoring and review
We review this policy every year, and sooner if our services, RICS requirements or the law change.
