This policy describes how Avalon Surveyors Ltd aims to run its business responsibly: in the way we treat clients and colleagues, in the advice we give, and in our contribution to the communities and environment in which we work.
Scope
The policy applies to all of the practice’s activities and to everyone who works for or on behalf of the practice.
Our commitments
- Ethical conduct: we act with honesty and integrity, in line with the RICS Rules of Conduct and our Anti-Bribery Policy.
- Our people: we treat people fairly, support their professional development, and look after their health, safety and wellbeing (see our Equal Opportunities Policy and Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy).
- Clients and the public: we give clear, objective advice and act in the public interest, as RICS expects of every member and firm.
- Supply chain: we work with suppliers, contractors and subconsultants who share our standards on the fair treatment of workers, safety and the environment (see our Modern Slavery Statement).
- Environment: we reduce the environmental impact of our own operations and encourage sustainable solutions in our advice (see our Environmental Policy).
- Community: the practice supports the construction charity BuildAid (registered charity number 1108811), and a director of the practice is one of its trustees.
How we put this into practice
As a small practice, most of our contribution is made through the way we do our work. Our advice takes account of the long term condition of the buildings we work on and, where it suits the building and the client’s objectives, we consider repair and reuse alongside replacement. We deal openly and fairly with the occupiers and neighbours affected by the works we advise on, and we pay our suppliers fairly and on the terms we agree with them.
Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for this policy. Everyone who works for or on behalf of the practice is expected to act in line with it.
Monitoring and review
We review this policy every year, together with our related policies, and look for practical ways to improve as the business develops.
